se fournissait chez les éditeurs de la rue Saint-Jacques et aurait pu être
lié à la famille de Nicolas Langlois, possédait aussi dans son fonds « vingt-quatre
petites images de velain [sic ] brodées recommandées ensemble douze solz 29 ».
Si la nature exacte de ces estampes « brodées », peut-être exécutées
selon une technique différente de l’application de fragments textiles à l’aide

l’image habillée dans des boutiques liées davantage à l’objet de dévotion et

lesquels étaient ornées des images achetées « blanches », probablement
auprès des producteurs parisiens. Peut-être était-ce le cas,
à Nancy, du magasin de Nicolas Guillot, dont les biographes rapportent qu’il
« s’amuse dès sa tendre jeunesse, à habiller des images de dévotion qui eurent de la
vogue parmi le peuple 31 » . Sans doute ces gravures étaient-elles, à l’étape des cires,
proposées dans sa boutique-atelier.
