One notable absentee from the recently concluded tests in Jerez was Marc Marquez. This was due to an injury that he suffered during training that has led a to a recurrence of double vision. Repsol Honda team manager Alberto Puig has now given some more details on Marc’s present condition to MotoGP’s official website

Puig began by stating that Marc’s condition hasn’t changed
“The important thing is how he is and he is more or less the same as we explained (in Portimao and Valencia)”
He then stressed on the need for more time
“He needs some time to rest, recover and see if all this area around the eye is getting less swollen, coming down and becoming calmer”
He then gave a timeline for Marc’s next test
“Then we will see. Around Christmas time we will have another check with the doctor and we will see what the situation is”
He signed off by explaining their strategy
“Then we will probably make decisions on what the possibilities are. Of course, he’s not happy about not being here [at the Jerez Test]. At the same time, he understands that what he needs now is to be resting and to be patient, and this is the situation”

Retired MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner has revealed that he “tried to be Valentino’s [Rossi] teammate twice” [DAZN]
“But someone at Yamaha didn’t let me. You certainly know who I mean”

“We start working next year. We have the shakedown for rookies in Malaysia, and then when the real tests start in Malaysia we can start working”
“Until then it’s just a matter of adapting, learning what I need to do to ride this bike, learning as much as possible about everything, and then slowly starting to compose everything. There is no rush”
Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro has explained that “so far [they’ve] had good races but [they] didn’t have a stable bike on every circuit” [Motosan]
“Now we do. The truth is that I expected a little more at the end of the season, but we suffered a lot from the low temperatures, we didn’t have traction”
“Overall I think we had a very solid championship. The 2021 bike was a very good starting point for the future, to fight for more important things, but we certainly need to improve a lot of things”
WithU CEO Matteo Ballarin has revealed that they “couldn’t offer a budget like Petronas, of course, [to RNF Yamaha]” [Speedweek]
“I told them what my budget was and asked if they would make WithU the main sponsor of the MotoGP team for that amount. That’s how the story for the next year began”
He further confirmed that the annual sponsorship “amount is less than 5 million euros”
RNF Yamaha team principal Razlan Razali, meanwhile, has explained that “since [they] like to compete with young riders, the rider’s budget is usually not huge. We’re talking about less than 1 million euros for two riders”
