Hello there, Welcome to the fifth episode of life in Estonia for foreigners, in this episode we will talk about the cost of living in Estonia.

The current account is part of the balance of payments of a ountry and shows the difference between the value of exports and imports. Germany had a trade surplus of more than 250 bn EUR in 2016. Whereas the United States faced a strong current account deficit of more than 740 bn USD.
Strong imbalances could lead to tensions between surplus and deficit countries. Surplus economies enjoy higher employment through their exports. Due to the current account deficit a lack of employment has to be compensated by internal growth in deficit economies. Moreover, deficit countries need to borrow money from the surplus countries in order to finance their deficit.
Therefore, surplus countries are always in the role of an international creditor and deficit countries are international debtors. However, a current account deficit is not necessarily a bad thing deficit countries enjoy a living standard above their overall income level because they consume more than they produce.
Whereas surplus economies live below their means because part of the domestically produced goods and services are exported and not demanded in the domestic economy. Besides this there are more reasons for importing goods such as availability, price or quality. In any case the imported goods increase the economic welfare in the deficit countries.

Bank Accounts are classified into four different types. They are,
1) Current Account.
2) Savings Account.
3) Recurring Deposit Account.
4) Fixed Deposit Account.
Debit Card: A debit card is a payment card that deducts money directly from a consumer’s checking account to pay for a purchase. Debit cards eliminate the need to carry cash or physical checks to make purchases directly from your savings.
Credit Card: A credit card is a thin rectangular piece of plastic or metal card issued by financial institutions, which lets you borrow funds from a preapproved limit to pay for your purchases. The limit is decided by the institution issuing the card based on your credit score and history.
Depositing money into account: deposit refers to the money an investor transfers into a savings or checking account held at a bank or credit union.
Interest rate: An interest rate is defined as the proportion of an amount loaned which a lender charges as interest to the borrower, normally expressed as an annual percentage. It is the rate a bank or other lender charges to borrow its money or the rate a bank pays its savers for keeping money in an account.

If you have been watching our videos then you might remember about Tom Emmer, who is a United States representative, tweeting about the Financial Services Republicans press release about Central Bank Digital Currency principles. He had said that Any Central Bank Digital Currency must maintain America’s global leadership \u0026 allow privatesector innovators to lead the way, but most importantly, it must be open, permissionless, and private – like cash.
Now, this same person said, a year ago, before the lawsuit was filed that XRP is not a security. In August 2020, Representative Tom Emmer hosted the firstever Cryptocurrency Town Hall, which brought together a number of Blockchain industry experts. Brad Garlinghouse, the Ripple CEO was also a part of it and he outlined that the biggest challenge faced by Ripple so far is the lack of clarity around the regulatory status of XRP. He said, “The biggest challenge Ripple has faced and anyone developing in the XRP community has faced is the lack of clarity on how assets beyond Bitcoin and Ether are gonna be defined by the SEC.”
Addressing the issue at the Cryptocurrency Town Hall, Emmer delivered his own verdict: “My position is very clear. XRP is not a security.”Emmer went on to say that U.S. authorities risk local businesses fleeing outside of the U.S. if the government continues to kill innovation. The purpose of mentioning this here is just to prove that the congress did not just turn towards Ripple’s side. They are of the same view way before the lawsuit was actually filed.
