Hammer Restoration [Very Rusty Restoration] – Awesome Restorations Remake – Etching Metal

This restoration is not a normal one, because I am restoring a very rusty hammer, just like \”Awesome Restorations\” did. But I do not do this with laser, hardening furnace or other hightech, but with very simple methods that almost every hobbyist has at home. For example, I etching metal, but as mentioned with very simple means.
I had a lot of fun filming this restoration video, because I learned and applied new techniques, and in video editing I tried new things to get very close to the video of Awesome Restorations. By the way, I am a very big fan of Martin’s videos, so I send him my best regards!
▬ What did I do ?! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
This hammer is really rusty! Therefore, in the first step I blast this with slag. Then I grind the hammer faces and the sides with different types of sandpaper. With a propane burner I heat the old rusty hammer to about 800°C (Tip: Since salt melts at 800°C, just sprinkle it on top) and the oil to about 80°C. After hardening, including burnishing, I prepare the large surfaces on the sides. From adhesive foil I cut my desired pattern and now etch the surface of the old hammer, the result is amazing and that with household products. Installing the handle is just a piece of cake. But take a look for yourself! The result is \”Awesome\”!

I used the following tools: blasting cabin, blasting medium: slag, hammer, center punch, drill, cordless screwdriver, tap, drilling oil, eyebolts, threaded rods, pin punch, softface hammer, sandpaper, angle grinder, sandpaper grinding wheel, Bunsen burner, propane gas, wire, adhesive foil, scalpel, paper tape, salt, water, cotton swabs, crocodile clips, 9V battery, saws

Cleaning \u0026 Etching Your Concrete

Cleaning and etching your concrete: using the Etch N Clean solution.\r
What you need:\r
•Stiff bristle broom\r
•Water supply\r
•High pressure hose\r
•Bucket (2 or more gallon capacity)\r
•Watering can or garden sprayer\r
•Scraper\r
The first step of preparation is to scrape off any buildup of debris such as paint, drywall mud and dirt.\r
The second step is to sweep away all the loose debris, dirt and dust from the concrete. \r
Using a ShopVac to clean around all the baseboards, pits and divots will ensure removal of all loose contaminants before applying the etch n clean.\r
IMPORTANT FACTS:\r
Etching is a critical part of the process. All concrete floors require preparation before applying any coatings. By using the etch n clean solution, you will be removing such things as oil and other contaminants. This also profiles the concrete so the coating has something to sink into. This ensures adhesion of your epoxy coating and prevents peel ups.\r

The third step is to mix the etch n clean solution with 1 gallon of warm water in a two gallon bucket. You then transfer the mixed solution, preferably in a watering can or garden sprayer to spread the solution evenly of the surface of your preparation area. If you dont have the aforementioned, you can apply the mixed solution from the bucket by spreading it out in small ribbons to cover the preparation area. \r
After dispersing the solution, use a stiff bristle broom to scrub the etch n clean over the concrete. Aggressively use the broom over any stubborn stains to make sure they are removed. \r

After you have scrubbed your floor, use a high pressure hose to remove the excess etch n clean from the preparation area. Start from the furthest point of the exit area and work your way out the garage opening. \r
Use the stiff bristle broom to push the excess water out of the garage. After youve removed the excess water, please wait overnight to let the substrate sufficiently dry before applying any coating.\r
Note: Although the Etch n clean is a phosphoric acid, diluted with water, it will not harm your grass or plants. In small doses, it actually promotes healthy plants and acts as a fertilizer. If you are still uncertain, please rinse the areas thoroughly that had the excess solution.
